Black Phantom Tetra (Hyphessobrycon megalopterus) is an exceptionally elegant, peaceful, and popular schooling fish that adds striking contrast and grace to any freshwater aquarium. Characterized by a velvety black shoulder patch and elongated fins (especially prominent in males), this tetra is a favorite for both community and planted tanks.

• Temperament: Peaceful, highly social, excellent for community tanks with other small species.
• Size: Reaches approximately 4-5 cm (1.5-2 inches).
• Behavior: Shoaling fish – best kept in groups of at least 6-8 individuals to thrive and display vibrant colors.
• Diet: Omnivorous – readily accepts high-quality flakes, micro pellets, and frozen foods like daphnia or brine shrimp.

They look stunning in aquascaped planted tanks with subdued lighting and floating plants to create natural shadow areas. Provide plenty of open swimming space alongside dense vegetation.
