Crossocheilus oblongus (Siamese Algae Eater - SAE) is one of the most popular and effective algae-eating fish in the aquarium hobby. This active Asian species is an essential helper in the fight against unwanted algae, including stubborn thread algae that other fish often ignore.
The SAE constantly grazes on plants, rocks, and decorations while remaining extremely peaceful. Young specimens are small, but as they mature, the fish can reach up to 15 cm (6 inches) in length and become more active, requiring a spacious aquarium of at least 100 liters.
